Banoka Bush Camp

Banoka Bush Camp

Along the banks of the Khwai River, in the northeastern corner of the Okavango Delta , you will find a rich diversity of wildlife at the lagoon surrounding Banoka Bush Camp. The solar-powered camp is built on a raised platform along the tree line to enhance the view of the lagoon. Besides the ten tented rooms with private verandas and two family tent suites, the camp boasts a bar, pool, lounge, and campfire area.

Named for the Banoka people who originally settled the Okavango region, this particular locale is home to lion, hippo, waterbuck, buffalo, crocodile, antelope, and hyena . . . to name a few. Many of these can be seen on drives, walks, and guided mokoro rides (dug-out canoes) when the water level allows. Due to the unique blend of habitats, 450 bird species can be sighted here. The combination of forest, wetlands, and open spaces attract Wattled Crane, Saddle-billed Stork, Long-toed Lapwing, Arnott’s Chat, and many others.

The camp is part of a partnership between Safari Adventure Company and the native Khwai community, aiming to bring the economic benefits of tourism to the indigenous peoples who live in the area. Combine your stay at Banoka Bush Camp with visits to the Linyanti regions and Central Kalahari Game Reserve for a comprehensive Botswana experience.
