Ngoma Safari Lodge

Ngoma Safari Lodge

Ngoma Safari Lodge is perched on the banks of the Chobe River as it flows through the Chobe Forest Reserve, bordering the western edge of northern Botswana’s Chobe National Park. As part of the Chobe Enclave Conservation Trust, the revenues generated from Ngoma Safari Lodge are funneled directly back to the surrounding communities for education and community enhancement.

The Chobe region of Botswana is well known as an area where game is abundant. Particularly famous are the Chobe elephants. The area is home to more than 75 mammal species and around 450 bird species. And Ngoma Safari Lodge arranges up to four game activities a day to take advantage of this abundance.

Ngoma Safari Lodge is a luxurious safari destination that offers accommodation in eight elegant, river-facing suites. Each unit offers spacious internal and external living areas, overhead fans, air-conditioning, mini bar, and en-suite bathrooms with tub and inside/outside shower. The luxury suites offer breathtaking views of the Chobe River and, depending on the season, elephants, migrating zebra, and buffalo can be seen grazing on the Caprivi floodplain below. Two of the eight suites have Italian daybeds that can be converted for use as triples.

The main lodge area is spacious with attractive African-inspired décor. The indoor living spaces are air-conditioned for comfort, while the spacious outdoor lounge and the private plunge pool have wonderful views over the bush and river. A reception area, dining room, bar area, and a curio shop complete the picture.

The wonder of being in the area is that literally hundreds of elephants may cross your path and go down to the river and you may see many different animal species on a game drives, such as waterbuck, lechwe, puku, giraffe, kudu, roan and sable, impala, warthog, bushbuck, monkeys, baboons, lion, leopard, hyena and jackal and then Hippo, Crocodile and a huge number of birds on river cruises.

Game Walks in the Chobe Forest Reserve start early in the morning, returning for breakfast, and are a special privilege as the animals and bird are so many and varied and a professional guide will make this world come alive.

Morning and afternoon game drives into Chobe National Park are the featured activity most days. The park covers around 4,500 square miles and has some of the largest concentrations of game found on the continent. And game drives (including night drives) within the Chobe Forest Reserve are excellent in their own right. Most remarkable about this area is the real possibility that you will encounter hundreds of elephants on a single game drive. In addition, the region is home to an impressive diversity of mammals including waterbuck, lechwe, puku, giraffe, kudu, roan, sable, impala, warthog, bushbuck, monkeys, baboons, lion, leopard, hyena, jackal, hippo, crocodile, and innumerable birds..

Early morning game walks or full-day cruises on the river may be the most unique ways of encountering the wildlife.
