Mara House

Mara House

Embrace calmness, quietness, and tranquility as you escape to your very own private bush home in the beautiful Ol Chorro Losoit Valley within the Mara North Conservancy. The conservancy’s 70,000 acres are far from normal tourist traffic and offer a welcome retreat to relax, experience exceptional wildlife, and explore Kenya’s untamed wilderness from the exquisite Mara House, another special property run by Nomadic Encounters.

A large veranda offers expansive views of wildlife visiting the waterhole below. Inside, an open floor plan allows generous space for a dining room, living area, and den/office with television. Designed to cater to a couple, small group or family, Mara House offers three spacious bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. A cozy fireplace, relaxing pool (shared with nearby Acacia House), and outdoor barbeque provide places to enjoy time together between safari expeditions.

Well-trained, professional staff members care for residents of Acacia House. A private chef prepares and serves guests memorable meals described as “uncomplicated but wonderfully imaginative . . . which utilize skillful blends of flavors from the huge variety of exciting produce found in Kenya.” Private house manager and wildlife guide ensure that guests’ needs and expectations are perfectly met. In fact, one former guest complimented Nomadic Encounters by writing, "The attention to detail, ambiance, setting and warm hospitality have surpassed our expectations.”

Several experienced Maasai wildlife guides are part of the staff and confidently lead guests into the bush in 4 x 4 vehicles, introducing them to the best the area has to offer. Game drives take place in the morning and evening in order to see the greatest diversity of wildlife. Many predator species including leopard, lion, striped and spotted hyena, cheetah, and wild dog inhabit the area. Other wildlife often seen by guests are hippo, zebra, buffalo, impala, elephant, giraffe, gazelle, and a great variety of birdlife. Game walks allow for a more intimate examination of creatures both large and small in their natural habitats.

Other optional extras provide incredible opportunities to view wildlife through hot air balloon rides, visits to the rhino sanctuary, visits to the Mara Game Reserve, and visits to local villages, schools, and trading centers. Guest participation in community projects such as computer training for local villagers in the nearby Trust Classroom is encouraged and always appreciated.
