Divava Okavango Lodge

Divava Okavango Lodge

With the mighty Okavango River flowing below, Divava Okavango Lodge is simultaneously one of Namibia’s most exciting and relaxing safari destinations. This wildlife haven in the Kavango region is just footsteps away from Popa Falls, known by the locals as Paradishi Ghomumbiru, or “little paradise.”

At the main lodge, the restaurant deck provides excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. A lounge warmly welcomes guests with modern yet comfortable furnishings, a custom fireplace, impressive, grass-woven chandeliers, and African artifacts. The wine room has a large selection, and the spa boasts an extensive menu of services, a well-trained staff, and five treatment rooms. Nearby the sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, and splash pool complete the experience.

Twenty elegant chalets feature large private decks, king-sized beds, air conditioning, and spacious bathrooms with both indoor and outdoor showers.

Adventures abound at Divava Okavango Lodge. Popa Falls, although not the largest falls in the country, are an unforgettable sight, especially when enjoyed during a sundowner boat cruise or romantic island dinner. Guests also enjoy boat safaris to view the Okavango River’s populations of hippo, crocodile, birdlife, and more.

A ten-minute drive from the lodge, Mahango National Park offers the best opportunities for guests to see four of Africa’s “big five”: buffalo, lion, leopard, and elephant. Guests are welcome to drive their own vehicle into the park, or they can be driven by a local guide who shares informative details regarding the park and its diverse wildlife. One former guest advises, “Don’t forget to make a turn at the big baobab in the Mahango Park, a perfect spot for a short stop or a small picnic.”

Other memorable activities include visiting the Buffalo Game Park, taking a private Mokoro boat trip on the Okavango River, fishing for tigerfish, tilapia, and catfish, and visiting a traditional village, where the Kavango inhabitants introduce guests to their unique culture.
