Namibia will always hold a special place in the heart of Piper & Heath Travel because this is where we have our origins. From the lush hardwood forests of the Caprivi to the barren coastline of the Namib Desert, Namibia truly is the land of contrasts. No other country in Africa can offer an experience as diverse. One day you may be hiking the tallest sand dune in the world, grains of ancient red sand between your toes, while the next you are belly crawling to connect eye-to-eye with Cape Fur Seals. The geography of Namibia is so diverse, it has been described as four countries in one, with each landscape possessing its own impressive and unique characteristics.

With intoxicating game viewing, stirring scenery, world-class cuisine, and rich cultural diversity, Namibia is a first-class safari experience. Known for its superb infrastructure and political stability, Namibia is a travel-friendly country like few others. The Namibian economy relies heavily on tourism, consequently it feels as though every person you meet has a vested interest in your experience being the best Namibia has to offer. This makes for great experiences with warm, fun loving people. Namibia is also an excellent self-drive destination for the more independent traveler.

Eighteen percent of the land has been set aside for world-class game parks and nature reserves. Etosha is the country’s flag-ship park and arguably one of the best in Africa. The size of a small European nation, it is home to over one hundred and fourteen large and small mammal species, more than four hundred recorded bird species, plus scores of reptiles and fish species.

Africa’s largest gorge, /Ai-/Ais Hot Springs is not only a botanical paradise and a popular hiking spot, it also contains some of the world’s oldest rock paintings and home to Fish River Canyon, the second largest in the world. Another popular and historic spot is Cape Cross Seal Reserve, now a National Heritage Site. Swakopmund and Walvis Bay are resort towns attracting both tourists and locals, while offering plenty of opportunities to play in the surrounding dunes and ocean.
