Mushara Lodge

Mushara Lodge

Mushara Lodge is eight kilometers from Von Lindquist Gate on the eastern boundary of Etosha National Park. The word “Mushara” is taken from the indigenous Herero language and refers to the Purple Pod Terminalia tree which grows in the region.

The Mushara Collection of lodges was created by the Pampe family who has turned what was once a game farm into a world class destination on the doorstep of Etosha. These lodges are an excellent alternative to accommodation within Etosha itself.

Mushara Lodge offers a range of accommodation options and consists of ten chalets, one family unit, one triple room, and two single rooms. The thatched chalets are arranged around the swimming pool, and both the chalets and rooms are spacious and well appointed. All are air-conditioned and have mosquito nets, tea and coffee facilities, a mini bar, and direct-dial telephone. Bathrooms are en-suite with separate toilet. Chalets and single rooms have a shower, while the triple room and family room have both a bath and a shower.

The stone and thatch public areas are comfortable, and visitors enjoy access to a small library, a bar with an extensive wine cellar, and a lounge featuring a wonderful fireplace for those cool evenings. A dining area in which to enjoy the meals as well as a well-stocked curio shop complete the picture. The decor is eclectic and blends African, original, and modern art excellently.

The beauty of the surrounding countryside, the grand vistas, and the anticipation of the game one will see in Etosha all add to the tension in the air. Also be on the lookout for warthogs and antelope that make it their business to keep the lawns around the pool manicured; they will keep young ones of all ages entertained!

Activities include both self-drive and expert-guided game viewing trips into Etosha. The guided trips are in vehicles that have a 360 degree open-air unobstructed view which makes game spotting and photographing excellent.

On the same reserve are its sister lodges Mushara Bush Camp, Villa Mushara, and Mushara Outpost.
