Naankuse Lodge

Naankuse Lodge

With a vision of an Africa where humans and wildlife thrive simultaneously, the Naankuse Foundation is the only nonprofit/charity ecotourism venture in Namibia. Through a number of means including a wildlife sanctuary, a school, and a medical clinic, Naankuse seeks to fulfill its mission to conserve the land, the cultures, and the wildlife of Namibia. Vital to this mission is rescuing species threatened by an ever-shrinking habitat. Naankuse Lodge is part of that vision, a special destination on a nature reserve where guests can enjoy the tranquil scenery, view wildlife in a new and intimate way, and share in this rich, African paradise.

Located thirty minutes from Nambia’s Windhoek International Airport, Naankuse Lodge is an ideal part of any safari itinerary. A calm oasis in the spectacular African veldt, this lodge was crafted from ecologically clean materials including solid logs and glass. The main area offers a lounge and a refreshing swimming pool. Lodge manager and experienced chef, Rhona Strauss, feeds body and soul with her Euro-African dishes. Her award-winning team daily prepares wake-me-up breakfasts, picnics in the veldt, and dinner under the African stars.

Six elegant chalets offer modern amenities blended with natural African elements such as grass, thatch roof, wooden logs, mohair, and stones. Large twin beds, fine linens, air-conditioning, en-suite bathroom, viewing veranda, and overall spaciousness provide a relaxing hideaway after an adventurous day.

Holiday homes provide another accommodation option, perfect for families or groups of friends. Four are available, and each includes its own plot, luxury fitted kitchen, lounge area, and veranda with panoramic views. Guests can choose to enjoy meals at the lodge, have dinner delivered to the home, cook meals themselves, or have their own “braai” (barbeque).

One exciting activity option at Naankuse is the seven-day eco-tourism safari, which includes spending time with baby baboons, caracals, and cheetahs, visiting San Bushman children at the Clever Cubs school, self-driving tour of NamibRand Nature Reserve, carnivore tracking, and more. Guests should not miss other adventures at Naankuse including carnivore feeding, behind-the-scenes tour with Marlice, big cat tracking, bushman star stories, birdwatching, and petting farm, among others.

Today, many wildlife species flourish in the area including leopard, cheetah, oryx, hartebeest, giraffe, zebra, kudu, springbok, and warthog. Although Naankuse does not guarantee sightings of any particular animal, encounters happen often, leaving guests with memories of an unforgettable African safari.
