Namibgrens Villas

Namibgrens Villas

Namibgrens motto of “where luxury is simple” comes to life at Namibgrens Villas, elegant and uniquely crafted retreats at Namibgrens Guest Farm. Just forty miles outside of Solitaire, Namibgrens is the perfect escape from the bustle of city living. Relax and feel the stress melt away as you contemplate the incredible landscape or witness a desert sunset.

Namibgrens caters to a variety of needs, tastes, and budgets. All facility services include restaurant, bar facilities, conference and workshop facilities, and many safari activities. The private villas blend harmoniously into nature and boast spacious living and cooking areas. With the natural rock of the mountain becoming part of the villa itself and with the views from the large windows allowing for panoramic views of the land below, each guest truly feels a part of nature.

Guests young and old find enjoyment at Namibgrens. The birdwatching is particularly excellent, as there are hundreds of distinct bird species in the area. As a working cattle farm, Namibgrens operates to promote Nguni cattle, first introduced to southern Africa by the Zulu people. These hardy, free-roaming cattle boast a variety of colors and patterns, earning descriptive subspecies names such as “flies in the milk” (for white skin with small black spots) or “woman who lost her court case” (for cows with horns growing forward and then back, resembling a woman with her hands in the air).

Self-guided hiking and walking trails abound, and these well-marked trails (over thirty miles of them!) lead adventurous guests to some of the best views in the area. Longer trails requiring several days introduce hikers to the unique wilderness, from granite outcrops to the escarpment overlooking the Namib Desert. Several 4x4 trails cross Namibgrens and offer a way for guests to sharpen their off-road driving skills.

Other activities include tented camps, lamb braais (barbeques), picnics, and canoe outings. Additional tailored activities are available upon request.

Several nearby conservation areas provide opportunities to explore stunning landscapes and magnificent wildlife. Sossusvlei, known for its ancient sand dunes, is one of the most photographed spots in Namibia. The trip is well worth the effort. Namib-Naukluft National Park, Gamsberg Nature Reserve, and Kuiseb and Spreetshoogte Pass offer dramatic views and an unforgettable experience in the African wild.
