Palmwag Lodge

Palmwag Lodge

Taking its name from the unending sway of the palms in this desert oasis, Damaraland’s Palmwag Concession is home to Palmwag Lodge, one of Namibia’s oldest and most popular tourist destinations. Along the banks of the dry Uniab River, the camp seeks to take full advantage of the region’s spectacular scenery and unique wildlife. Due to its relatively centralized location, Palmwag Lodge is ideal for a one-night stop over during travels between Namibia’s Skeleton Coast, Kaokoveld, and Etosha regions.

Guests have their choice of thatched bungalow or luxury canvas tents, all of which have en-suite bathroom facilities. The more adventurous tourist may even take advantage of numerous nearby campsites. Palmwag Lodge is home to a licensed a-la-carte restaurant, as well as a bar and swimming pool.

Activities center around daily 4x4 game drives that track the healthy populations of desert-adapted elephant and black rhino roam freely in the expansive concession, as well as surprisingly large herds of mountain zebra, giraffe, oryx, springbok, and kudu. Predators including lion, cheetah, leopard and hyeana occur in numbers second only to Etosha National Park within Namibia.
