An African Villa

An African Villa

Representing the latest in African Zen-style décor, An African Villa is a sophisticated, modern accommodation set in a quiet residential area of Cape Town, South Africa. With just a short stroll, the area’s village feel gives way to the city center, an exciting tourist destination offering eclectic restaurants and a variety of activities. This urban safari experience is sure to inspire even the most well-traveled guest.

Three terrace houses were carefully renovated and joined together to create the twelve-room African Villa. Their architecture is characteristic of their 19th-century origins: high ceilings, large rooms, solid walls, and double-story Victorian terraces. However, history gracefully merges with modernity in the contemporary African décor. Guests relish the sense of pure relaxation from the villa’s careful balance of color, texture, pattern, and light.

Accommodation options cater to every guest’s need. Platinum class rooms feature “Juliet” balcony or large furnished balcony, quiet location, en-suite bathroom, and either king-sized or single twin beds. Gold class rooms face the courtyard and include en-suite bath and shower and king or twin single beds. Silver class rooms feature en-suite bathrooms and unique African décor. Each room offers luxury cotton percale linens, air-conditioning and heating units, flat screen TV, wireless internet, tea/coffee station with cookies, and more.

Enjoy a hot breakfast (included with your stay) in the dining room or in the spacious courtyard by the pool. For dinner, the hospitable owners are glad to offer advice. Other facilities available to guests of An African Villa are a library with internet access, plunge pool, and small gift shop. Guests are even encouraged to help themselves to beverages and snacks from the central kitchen’s “honesty bar” fridge.

Cape Town is Africa’s largest tourist destination, and with a climate similar to southern California, outdoor excursions are possible just about any time of year. From hiking to the top of Table Mountain to lounging on one of the many area beaches (some of which host surfing competitions and colonies of African penguins), the city and surrounding area offer something for everyone. The most notable attraction is the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront which functions as a working dock as well as an outdoor shopping area and departing point for ferries to surrounding towns and islands. The city’s extensive transport system takes guests to other exciting venues and cultural attractions such as Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, Artscape Theater Centre, Cape Winelands, and Cape Town Stadium.
