Ardmore Guest Farm

Ardmore Guest Farm

Ardmore Guest Farm earns its name by offering typical farm accommodation together with three hearty farm meals. This is not your typical bed-and-breakfast-and-leave destination. Additionally, Ardmore is situated below Champagne Castle in the mighty Drakensberg Mountain Range in KwaZulu Natal. This breathtaking scenery will be the backdrop for your stay at Ardmore.

Guests at Ardmore will find a main guesthouse, a guest rondavel (a rondavel is a round building with circular roof so typical of the area), and cottages with glorious mountain views. The main building houses the dining room, television room, kids play room, spacious lounge, and pub. The rondavel has a queen bed, log fireplace, couch, and en-suite bathroom with a bath and separate shower. The cottages have one, two, or three double bedrooms, some with more than one bed in the room, and each bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. The main bedrooms have a four-poster queen bed, and their bathrooms have bathtub and separate shower.

Wake up to a traditional farmhouse breakfast (full English) served on the veranda, while light lunches and snacks are served in the tea garden during the day. In the evening, a four-course dinner with complimentary wines is served.

Activities on the farm are many and include bass fishing in the dam, bird watching, mountain biking, tennis, quad-biking (four-wheeling), canoeing, and walks in the beautiful terrain.

In the KwaZulu Natal region, many battles were fought between the British forces and the Boers and, later, the Zulu Nation. There are many places of historic interest including battlefields and gravesites.

The Ardmore guesthouse features many pieces from internationally acclaimed ceramist, Bonnie Ntshalintshali (1967-1999), who was born and brought up on Ardmore Farm. At the neighboring Ardmore Ceramic Art Studio, guests will be able to see many local artists at work. More than forty artisans sell locally-produced crafts of many types.
