Coach House

On a gracious country estate with a history dating to the gold rush of the late 1800s, Coach House is a well-established hotel destination with a stellar reputation for fine hospitality, outstanding cuisine, and exceptional comfort and luxury. Only four hours from Johannesburg, Coach House Hotel is conveniently located on the Old Coach Road at Agatha in South Africa’s Limpopo province and overlooks the Letsitele Valley. Nearby, the Drakensberg Mountains provide a scenic backdrop and many opportunities for adventure.

Nine new suites offer spacious accommodation, elegant luxury, and exceptional comfort. Additionally, 25 premier rooms feature king-sized double or three-quarter twin beds, and standard rooms feature single beds. All rooms boast generous en-suite bathrooms, separate shower, private veranda, and stunning views. Luxurious touches include fine percale cotton sheets, mohair blankets, heated towel rails, air-conditioning, and personal bathrobes. Guests in suites and premier rooms appreciate the warmth of a cozy, log-burning fireplace, and all guests feel pampered with the personal touches of fresh flowers, spring water, fresh fruit, and homemade biscuits provided in the room daily.

Guests are welcomed with a complimentary drink, and exceptional service extends to a personal wake-up call which includes early morning beverages accompanied by homemade rusks. Other amenities include unlimited use of the steam rooms, saunas, gymnasium, and hydro jet heated pool at Agatha Spa. Enchanting gardens encompassing 37 acres surround the hotel and beckon to be explored. Marked walking paths introduce guests to a variety of fauna including aloe plants, macadamia trees, clivia, and other indigenous plants and trees; many guests enjoy taking a picnic lunch to enjoy while birdwatching, mountain gazing, or daydreaming.

Breakfast at Coach House is a special occasion, often eaten on the veranda with the Drakensburg Mountains in the distance. The breakfast buffet features fruit, yogurt, smoked salmon, cheeses, homemade breads, and more. The hotel’s Zeederbeerg Restaurant is renowned for its offerings of Lunsklip River trout, Bonsmara beef, and sub-tropical fruits and nuts. Candle-lit dinners dazzle guests with the chef’s unique combinations of fresh seasonal ingredients with locally-sourced meat, vegetables and fruit. The Broken Anvil is the hotel’s fine wine cellar, stocked with impressive local and imported wines. And the John Buchan Bar and Coach House Nougat Kitchen provide drinks and sweets to please any palate.
