Fordoun Spa Hotel

Fordoun Spa Hotel

On a picturesque Nottingham Road dairy farm lies one of KwaZulu-Natal Midlands’ premier boutique hotels. Some of the original farm buildings from the 1800s have been exquisitely modernized, yet they remain reminiscent of an earlier, more relaxed era. Fordoun Spa, Hotel, and Restaurant is an award-winning destination, ideal for a vacation, conference, wedding, or special event.

Several types of suites cater to a variety of guest needs, and all suites include a complimentary TV and DVD player. Choosing one of Fordoun’s Luxury Suites, guests experience top-of-the-line details including king-size bed, mini-bar, coffee and tea making facilities, and spacious bathroom with under-floor heating, separate bath, and shower. One of the Luxury Suites is wheelchair accessible. The Deluxe Dam Facing Suites include all of the amenities of a Luxury Suite with the addition of a dressing room area, and a private balcony with views onto the lawns and dam.

The upscale Superior Mountain View Suites are individual units looking out toward the spectacular Drakensberg Mountains. These individual units offer all amenities of the Deluxe Suites as well as separate lounge area, gas fireplace, outdoor shower, and wireless internet.

A team of experts at Fordoun Spa performs internationally acclaimed treatments including aromatherapy body and bath treatments, unique African treatments, a variety of massages, and hydrotherapy baths and showers. One-of-a-kind facilities at Fordoun include a rasul (a Turkish steam and clay treatment room), a saline flotation pool, heated swimming pool, gymnasium, sauna, steam room, vichy shower, hydrotherapy room, and couples’ treatment suite. Director Dr. Elliot Ndlovu is a practicing herbalist, ethnobotanist, and traditional African healer and has used his expertise to produce exceptional products created from indigenous plants.

Fordoun’s exquisite Skye Bistro is open to local guests during the week, and it is essential to make reservations at the popular eatery. Farm-style breakfasts, light lunches, dinner feasts, and delectable deserts are hallmarks of a dining experience at Skye Bistro. Fresh, local produce in combination with Chef Regis Drouet’s top-quality knowledge and techniques make for an unforgettable meal. Over sixty wines from local estates are a mainstay of the wine collection, along with sparkling wines and French champagnes.

In addition to the world-famous spa experience, Fordoun offers a variety of outdoor activities. Golfing, mountain biking, horseback riding, hot-air-ballooning, hiking, touring local villages, and fishing all provide ways to better understand the splendor of South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal region.
