Hog Hollow

Hog Hollow

Hog Hollow Country Lodge is a little South African paradise hidden near the Robberg Peninsula on the Indian Ocean. One of its strongest advantages is its local dedicated staff. “Hog Hollow is 100% committed to transformation and employment of previously disadvantaged people and only employ local people from Plettenberg Bay.” Encouraging continued education and training of their staff in the hospitality industry, Hog Hollow owners (and therefore their guests) reap the excellent service given by a contented and well looked after staff. These individuals are seen as successful leaders in their own local communities and are delighted to introduce guests to the magnificent beauty of their slice of the world.

With the stunning backdrop of the Matjies River Gorge, Hog Hollow’s main lodge is the center of activity for guests. Impressively large, the dining table in the spacious dining room is an ideal spot to enjoy a variety of homemade delicacies as well as plan each day’s adventures. The pool lounge, reading room, and Ficus Lounge offer relaxing retreats, perfect for napping, birdwatching, or reading. A bar and outdoor boma provide additional areas to unwind and enjoy a refreshing drink.

Surrounding the main house are sixteen private, garden suites. Cozy touches like a South African bedtime story, hot water bottle, homemade lemon syrup, and freshly baked cookies add to the comfortable home-like atmosphere. Standard amenities include king-sized beds, earth-toned décor, hand-crafted African artifacts, well-stocked mini-bar, and private deck.

Three double-story suites cater to guests travelling with children. Kids will treasure memories of their African safari experience forever, especially when it includes fresh milk and gingerbread man at bedtime, children’s stories, boxes of toys, and trips to the beach with a variety of buckets, shovels, and body boards.

The spacious Villa at Hog Hollow is a comfortable, thee-bedroom house with breathtaking views over the Tsitsikamma Mountains and surrounding valley. Infinity pool, wooden decks, sunny lounge, leather furniture, entertainment center, and fireplace all add to the charm of this airy retreat.

The crags surrounding Hog Hollow offer an astounding array of activities, helpfully planned and booked by Hog Hollow staff after talking over your interests at breakfast. With picnic basket in hand, hike the surrounding hills or head to Monkeyland Primate Sanctuary, Birds of Eden, or Elephant Sanctuary. If you’re ready to live on the wild side, the cats of Tenikwa Wildlife Awareness Centre may be your choice for the day. Try the highest bungee in the world, take a Treetop Canopy tour, cruise the bay for whale and dolphin sightings, explore Nelson’s cave, or try a tandem ski dive. All this and more await guests of Hog Hollow, sure to provide you with an unforgettable African adventure.
