Leopard Mountain Lodge

Expansive views over the 55,000-acre Zululand Rhino Reserve are just the beginning of an authentic African experience at Leopard Mountain Game Lodge. Conservation is a hallmark of this special lodge, and owners and guests work together to ensure that these unspoiled bushlands, forests, rivers, and mountains remain pristine for future generations.

Inviting stone and thatch chalets provide luxurious accommodations for discerning guests. Watch both sunrise and moonrise from the privacy of your own balcony, complete with hammock, perfect for enjoying the verdant valley and Msunduze River below. With a light, airy atmosphere, each chalet features en-suite bathroom, tea and coffee facilities, romantically draped mosquito netting, mini bar, and more.

When not relaxing in your spacious chalet or exploring the outdoors, join other guests in the welcoming lounge, bar, and dining room. A unique rock pool is ideal for swimming or simply basking in the warmth of a lazy afternoon. Dinners served outdoors in the boma are a tradition, featuring spectacular South African cuisine highlighted by local produce, fresh-baked breads, and hand-crafted desserts.

Creating perfect moments is an important gift that Leopard Mountain Game Lodge seeks to give guests. To make a romantic getaway memorable (or honeymoon, anniversary, or engagement!), the lodge offers a private dining area that includes a candlelit dinner and special culinary treats followed by a private campfire.

Specially-designed safari vehicles take guests and guides through the Zululand Rhino Reserve on memorable game drives twice daily. Experienced and knowledgeable trackers introduce guests to the “big five” (elephant, rhino, leopard, lion, and buffalo) as well as a number of endangered species such as cheetah, brown hyena, and wild dog. Other local inhabitants include giraffe, jackal, genet, porcupine, and numerous antelope species. Game drives are also offered on the nearby Hluhluwe-Imfoozi Game Reserve, Africa’s oldest reserve.

Leopard Mountain Game Lodge offers a number of big five walking safaris. From the 2-3 hour scenic trails and full day trails to the more intense and adventure-filled primitive trails, exploring Africa on foot is sure to give you the feeling of what the early pioneers experienced on their travels. Other fantastic African adventures include St. Lucia Lake Tours, fishing for aggressive tigerfish on Lake Jozini, visiting a traditional Zulu homestead, seasonal whale-watching, and exciting elephant interactions.
