Little Garonga

Little Garonga

A charming camp in a private game reserve near Hoedspruit, Limpopo, South Africa, Little Garonga offers relaxed luxurious accommodations and excellent game viewing. With over 55,000 acres in the Greater Makalali Private Game Reserve/Pidwa Private Game Reserve, native wildlife is free-roaming and abundant. Four of Africa’s “big five” make the area home in addition to numerous other animal species.

Little Garonga is an intimate getaway, and the camp can be reserved for exclusive use or suites can be reserved independently. Comfortably accommodating up to eight guests total, three elegant thatched suites surround the central lodge area. The Hambledon Suite includes a main bedroom and additional closed off children’s room, perfect for a family of four enjoying an African safari adventure. A hand-beaten copper bathtub is the central feature of the spacious bath which also includes indoor and outdoor shower, two basins, and toilet. Additionally, the suite boasts an indoor lounge, covered outdoor lounge, private swimming pool with deck, hammock, and mini-bar.

Both the Chiltern and Buckingham Suites share similarly elegant features. The main bedroom’s lounge area offers a mini-bar, air-conditioning unit, ceiling fan, and writing desk. A luxurious bathroom houses double basins, indoor shower, and toilet leading to a large outdoor shower. Continue outdoors to relish the beauty of nature from a private platform deck and comfortable hammock.

Inside the main lodge, an indoor lounge gives way to an outdoor lounge, tented breakfast deck, swimming pool, pool deck, and barbeque area. Guests enjoy dining outdoors or inside next to the cozy fireplace, self-service bar, and comfortable reading area. As a totally self-contained camp, Little Garonga has its own host, chef, waiter, and housekeeper, each of whom provide extremely professional and friendly service. Mouthwatering cuisine offers a fusion of international fare with South African favorites and is tastefully accompanied by the best in South African wines.

Enjoy two scenic game drives each day, one early in the morning and another later in the afternoon. Experienced guides and trackers reveal the secrets of the African bush. In addition to the area’s “big four” (lion, leopard, elephant and rhino), expect to glimpse cheetah, hippo, crocodile, spotted hyena, and a variety of plains game.
