N'kaya Lodge

N'kaya Lodge

Private tranquility meets safari adventure at the fascinating N’Kaya Game Lodge. Shaded by tall trees and nestled on a hill overlooking the Drakensberg Mountains, this idyllic lodge offers exceptional game viewing, complete privacy, and an intimate safari experience in one special destination.

Four exclusive and recently updated double suites with private lounges and twin en-suite amenities offer only the best for guests of the lodge. Each air-conditioned suite also boasts en-suite bath and shower, romantically draped bed, fine linens, veranda, and unique décor featuring African curios.

Warm tones in the main lodge’s lounge, bar, and veranda mimic the surrounding natural beauty. Between game drives, this area is ideal for sampling some of the lodge’s award-winning wines, escaping to a quiet place, and relaxing to peaceful sounds of an African afternoon. In the evening, warm yourself by the crackling fire in the main lodge and glimpse nocturnal animals visiting the nearby floodlit waterhole. Other amenities include pool, boma, and wine cellar.

The surrounding private reserve is known for its large concentrations of game both big and small. Many different species converge on the area including almost 150 mammal species (including Africa’s “big five”: lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino, and elephant), over 100 reptile species, 500 bird species, nearly 40 amphibian species, and 50 fish species. A near perfect year-round climate combined with open savanna allow for excellent game viewing and exploration of the region’s incredible landscapes.

Early morning game drives provide an exciting start to each day. Experienced guides and Shangaan trackers lead expeditions in open Land Rovers with the goal of viewing the animals at close range in their natural environment. Breakfast is served in the riverbed, in the bush, or back at the camp.

Safari walks allow a more intimate view of the smaller animals and local flora and fauna. Trackers entertain guests with traditional folklore as well as educate guests about what they see around them. A second game drive in the afternoon/evening offers opportunity to experience a torch-lit search for nocturnal creatures.

Other trip highlights include gourmet three-course dinners, drinks in the boma, bush, or lodge, and relaxing evenings around the campfire. Guests can make arrangements with their hosts to use the luxury Amani Spa, featuring two treatment chalets that offer a private spa experience while guests enjoy incredible safari views. The chalets on stilts boast a wall of glass doors, the option for open-air spa treatments on the sala, rejuvenating massages, soothing treatments for body and spirit, and more.
