Chem Chem

Ignite your sense of adventure at the exclusive Chem Chem Safari Lodge, nestled between Tarangire National Park and Lake Manyara. Within a nearly 10,000-acre private wildlife concession, this northern Tanzanian getaway offers the essence of a slow safari, encouraging you to fully immerse yourself in the depth of each moment.

Golfing great Greg Norman, after visiting Chem Chem Safari Lodge, gives it high compliments. “I have travelled the world and visited many exotic, fascinating, unique and beautiful places, but nothing comes close to the setting, ambience and experience I had at Chem Chem in Tanzania!!!! It should be on everyone’s ‘bucket list’ of adventure.”

The lodge’s main house offers a gourmet restaurant sure to surprise and excite your tastebuds. An elegantly-designed lounge, bar, outdoor fireplace, fully stocked library, and viewing deck with breathtaking views over Lake Manyara are additional amenities provided for guests. The on-site Amani Spa provides rejuvenating treatments while the hidden pool offers a cool, relaxing escape from the heat of the day.

Combining canvas, lava stones, and wood, each of the eight secluded tented suites recalls a snapshot from “Out of Africa.” Colonial style merges with the latest amenities including reading corner, dressing room, terrace, patio with daybed, en-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor shower, signature toiletries, dressing gown, slippers, yoga mats, and more. One family suite is also available for families experiencing the wonders of Africa together.

The concept of the slow safari was born at Chem Chem Safari Lodge. At its core, the idea is that a safari is to be enjoyed as a tangible, sensual experience beyond the confines of a vehicle. Guests are encouraged to trek on foot, immersing themselves in seeing, feeling, touching, and smelling, in order to establish an intuitive connection with the bush. Expect to see elephant, lion, leopard, leopard, zebra, flamingo, impala, and numerous other antelope and bird species alongside native flora such as baobab and palm.

Countless activities allow guest to fully engage in the safari experience: walking safaris, private sessions in track reading, picnics, bush cooking experiences, visiting Maasai villages, and dining under the stars.
