Lake Masek Tented Camp

Lake Masek Tented Camp

Lake Masek Luxury Tented Camp is an exclusive camp overlooking Lake Masek in the northwest part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, just south of Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park. The camp is uniquely placed to witness the wildebeest migration that takes place from December to April each year. There is significant wildlife in the area year-round, including all of Africa’s “Big 5” as well as cheetah and the diminutive and elusive bat-eared fox.

Lake Masek Tented Camp is composed of twenty spacious tents, five doubles, eight twins, and seven triples. Each tent is specially designed, constructed on wooden platforms about a meter above the ground. A large bedroom area gives way to a spacious bathroom, and a private veranda. Dark wood, four-poster beds are hung with mosquito nets and flanked by matching bedside tables. A wardrobe, dresser, and writing desk complete the set. White curtains, white linen, stylish cane furniture, red-stained floorboards, and soft furnishings in burnt oranges and natural browns lighten the effect. Bathrooms have twin sinks, stand-alone bath, and a separate outdoor, open-air shower.

The main lodge consists of an open-air lounge, bar, library, dining room, and outdoor terrace. The lounge is decorated with comfortable sofas and armchairs grouped together to create intimacy. Meals are served in the dining area or on the large veranda that overlooks the lake. The camp is eco-friendly; all the electric power is supplied by solar panels, and water is collected during the rainy season. All products used in the camp are biodegradable in order to ensure that the environment is kept pristine.

Lake Masek Tented Camp offers private game drives across the awe-inspiring Serengeti plains and into the surrounding woodlands, including the serene Moru Kopjes. Walking safaris can also be arranged as well as breakfasts and sundowners in the bush. The nearby Olduvai archaeological site is also a favorite.
