Nduara Loliondo

Nduara Loliondo

Maasai! The word conjures up images of a tall pound warrior people of Africa defined by their nomadic lifestyle and close affinity with their cattle. Maasailand is untamed and unspoiled and a unique experience.

In partnership with the Maasai, Nduara Loliondo came into being as a semi-permanent tented safari camp that moves between two locations within the Loliondo Game Controlled Area on the eastern side of the Serengeti National Park. The camps migration is driven by the great migration of wildebeest and other plains game.

From December to early June, Nduara sets up camp to the south, in an area adjacent to the Serengeti National Park, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and the Gol Mountains. The location is ideal to observe the wildebeest migration as it moves toward the southern plains of the Serengeti.

From mid June to November, the camp moves north to an area bordering Kenya’s Maasai Mara as well as the Serengeti. From this location, one can venture to the northern and eastern Serengeti.

Activities include walking safaris, day and night drives, and opportunities to interact with the ancient Maasai culture. Each guest enjoys the services of a private guide and game vehicle.

The camp’s six Mongolian style “yurts” offer accommodations that will charm and décor that pays homage to the Maasai’s colorful culture. Open and breezy, the yurts are a cool retreat, and en-suite bathrooms have on demand hot and cold water in the bucket showers. Meals are served in the dining yurt, and the lounge yurt is the perfect place for guests to meet and relax together.

When in the southern Loliondo, one can enjoy both the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the Serengeti. The incredible landscape along with the presence of plentiful game make it well worthwhile. When the camp has moved to the north, the Maasai Mara is much closer and easy access to the Serengeti is a bonus.
