Semliki Safari Lodge

Semliki Safari Lodge

Offering one of the finest accommodations in Uganda’s wild places, Semliki Safari Lodge is part of an intimate safari lodge group that seeks out some of Uganda’s most spectacular yet virtually unknown destinations and introduces them to small numbers of adventurous guests. Enjoy leaving the crowds behind and experience the best of Uganda, a true “Africa in miniature.” Semliki Safari Lodge is nestled within Semliki Wildlife Reserve (formerly Toro-Semliki Wildlife Reserve) and impresses guests with its modern interpretation of a camp in the grand safari tradition. This unforgettable camp in the larger Albertine Rift Valley is surrounded by natural barriers that protect magical forests full of magnificent wildlife.

Semliki welcomes only eighteen guests at a time, providing a personalized experience accompanied by impeccable service. The expansive common area is a restful gathering place with its cozy armchairs, lantern light, chunky dining tables, traditional art, and open-air views.

Luxury canvas tents are part of the drama of being on safari, and Semliki offers canvas tent accommodation in high style. Thick thatched roof, hardwood floors, and en-suite bathrooms with running water, hot showers, and flush toilets have been incorporated to ensure a spectacular visit. After a restful night in a romantically draped bed, awake to tea or coffee brought to your door. Enjoy it in bed or on the veranda alongside memorable views.

Historically significant as Uganda’s first protected area, Semliki Wildlife Reserve is just waiting to be explored. Be introduced to numerous bird species (over 34 endemic species and over 425 total species), chimpanzee, elephant (both forest and savanna), colobus monkey, buffalo, shoebill, and more by Semliki’s knowledgeable guides. Whether on a night game drive (the only place in Uganda where night drives are permitted), a walking safari, or a boat trip on Lake Albert, you can glimpse incredible wildlife in its natural habitat, nearly untouched by humans. Semliki Safari Lodge partners in the preservation of its region by being active in the local community as well as in conservation programs.

Semliki’s resident chimp researcher educates guests and leads chimpanzee tracking expeditions, sure to excite children and adults alike. Other popular activities include picnics, private dinners, bush breakfasts, sundowners, birding expeditions, swimming, and boat trips to Lake Albert to view the impressive shoebill.
