Mfuwe Lodge

Mfuwe Lodge

Mfuwe Lodge is The Bushcamp Company’s award-winning flagship camp. Located within five minutes of South Luangwa National Park’s main gate, the lodge is in the middle of the park’s prime game viewing area. Its resident chalets and common areas sprawl across the banks of two lagoons that attract remarkable numbers of giraffe, buffalo, antelope, and crocodile. In addition, elephant make an annual migration to a particular wild mango tree growing within the camp’s boundaries.

Refurbished in 2010, the lodge offers luxury to visitors whether stopping off for a quick lunch on the way to a remote bushcamp or lodging overnight in one of the camp’s eighteen thatched chalets. Each room is luxuriously appointed and has a veranda overlooking the lagoons. En-suite bathrooms and large walk-in showers make these chalets superb centers for relaxation and rejuvenation.

This particular region’s game viewing is world class. While the famous Luangwa walking safaris can be arranged, of prime significance are the daily and nightly game drives across the river valley. Herds of numberless plains game dot the valley floor while lion, leopard, and wild dog stalk their prey. The Luangwa River itself is remarkable for its dense concentrations of crocodile, hippo, and birdlife.
