Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park

Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park

Situated along a 10-mile stretch of the Zambezi River that includes Victoria Falls, Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park is a small but fantastically located park.

Along the falls side, the park is mostly rainforest with rare plants including ivory, palm, ebony, and pod mahogany. The forest grows close to the river in the park and is home to bushbuck and vervet monkey as well as many bird species, while the river itself supports intense concentrations of hippo and crocodile. The rest of the park is woodland and grassland that where zebra, giraffe, warthog, and antelope roam. This wildlife sanctuary is also home to Zambia’s only remaining white rhino. Since there are no predators, all species can be seen at a close range and in a relaxed atmosphere.

Visitors have the option of driving personal vehicles through the park or being a part of organized open-vehicle game drives. A true highlight of the park is the rhino walk, where only eight people per day are allowed to track rhino. Recently, elephant-back safaris have also been introduced.
