Zimbabwe is undergoing a wonderful transformation as it reclaims its position as one of the top safari destinations in Africa. The people of Zimbabwe have a warmth about them that any visitor will carry with them for the rest of their lives. Zimbabwe offers all the elements that make for a great safari, and in abundance. Superb wildlife destinations, exciting adventures, superb guides, diverse destinations and thousands of square miles of pristine wilderness all waiting to be experienced.

The country’s geography provides an attractive patchwork of landscapes, from Highveld, balancing boulders and flaming red msasa trees, to easy-going towns, lush mountains, and lifeblood rivers up north such as the mighty Zambezi. One of the biggest tourist draws is the dramatic Victoria Falls, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. A big source of income for the country, it’s a great place to take a cruise on the Zambezi River, white-water raft, or bungee-jump over the side. Mana Pools National Park is another scenic watery playground ideal for snapping crocodiles and snapping hippos as well as a host of other wildlife. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is also one of the few places visitors can explore on foot without a guide.

A great place for a safari, Zimbabwe enjoys several national parks. Hwange National Park is the largest and famous for its large elephant populations as well as many other big mammals. The nation’s best safari lodges and game drives can be found here. Matobo National Park is famous for its unusual landscape of balancing rocks known as kopjes, these giant boulders teeter impossibly on top of one another. It’s also a great place to see San rock art and the endangered black and white rhinos. Other top destinations include the historic ruins of Great Zimbabwe and the beauties of Lake Kariba.

Zimbabwe’s political history is something the country is trying to put behind it and as it re-establishes itself it still represents the best value in Africa. Here visitors can go on safari with the highest levels of accommodation, service, and experience but at a cost that reflects astounding value. Zimbabwe is a stand-alone safari destination with all the wonder of the African bush in one country.
